The Oscars 2009

Finally it is here, my Oscars post. It has taken a long long time.
Nude/white shimmer has to be the official look of the night - there was just so much of it going on. Although the winning dress was a blue/charcoal grey Yves Saint Laurent.
When I looked at the pictures online this morning a lot of the dresses I really didn't like, but then I saw them on TV in motion and they looked much better. I'm still not into Jessica's mess of a look or poor Heidi Klum's dress, which she apparently couldn't sit in properly and therefore had a dead-leg all night.
I haven't decided on my favourite look yet. I do think Marion, SJP and Amy Adams (who I haven't included in this post) all looked great.
The surprises of the night for me were Jennifer Aniston, who looked fabulous, I really thought she'd look a bit dull in a black halter dress, and Frieda Pinto. I'm hoping Frieda's dress will grow on me because I really want to like it. It's just the sleeve makes it look like something a much older star would wear. So here it is:

Feel free to comment on who you rated and hated.
Now I need to go and sleep. My eyes actually sting from looking at the computer too long - so I'm sure there are plenty of typos hanging about.

Update: There may be some confusion over the fact Miley Cyrus is not in the worst dressed section. I think she looked terrible (and why was she even there?) but didn't want to repeat the image so just left her with the shimmery ladies. I am not a fan.

Dead Raccoons, Birds, Hats and yes, more Gorillas

What I wasn't expecting to find was a hat (well more of a tent) that was particularly Gorillaish. It was made from ostrich feathers by Stephen Jones for none other than Giles Deacon for the Giles s/s 07 show. So the Gorilla arms weren't Giles' first Gorilla look.

There was also this insane hat that was just a dead Raccoon with a dead Bird on it's neck. Pretty much the most disgusting thing you could ever wear on your head.

So would you rather look like a Gorilla or wear a Raccoon/Bird hat?

Christina Hendricks

Christina Hendricks, the Mad Men actress, has her sexy red carpet look down in this flowy green Goddess dress that highlights her sensory curves.

She did her 1960s-era Mad Men character justice in a curve-hugging emerald green gown, which complemented her red hair that she wore in a up-style twist.

Supermodel Heidi Klum looks totally fab and so luminous in this great beaded dress.

Heidi had a chance to take the most risks, as she was hoped to adopt many looks throughout the night. She planned no fewer than six as she extended her red carpet walk in a custom Giorgio Armani Prive gunmetal metallic dress with a one-shoulder.

“It was a mature choice for what Heidi normally wears,” said Klum’s stylist Maryam Malakpour, but Armani won her over by sending a personal note to congratulate her on her “Project Runway” nomination.
